Owner Ariane McKeller was inspired to start the business at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. With extra time on her hands, she found the energy and vibes from tending her house plants not only gave her joy, but became a form of self-care. Taking care of her house plants was not only relaxing, but also gave her a purpose and something to feel proud of. She needed to share this with others.

Although she grew up in Buffalo, NY, Ariane moved to Richmond to attend VCU. From there, she fell in love with everything about RVA - the food, the people, the weather, the environment, and of course, the community. She is also a member of Black Pride RVA, which has allowed her to further immerse herself in everything Richmond has to offer.

Through her business, Ariane is able to share the wonderful energy house plants create, which has been her intention from the beginning.

For plant parents, she warns against overwatering - the most frequent mistake she sees. “You need to talk to them! Talk to them and show them love as if they were human.”

Ariane finds it incredibly important to have representation of businesses within the LGBTQ community because “our businesses matter too.” She finds business essential and a key component in building community, which is especially important right now.
