Animal Presents: What Cheer? Brigade, GULL, & Madison Turner feat. All the Saints Theater Co.
The What Cheer? Brigade is a 19-piece brass band from Providence, RI, USA. Their sound is an aggressive mix of Bollywood, The Balkans, New Orleans, Samba and Hip-Hop, played with the intensity of metal. Since it requires no amplification, some call our sound Luddite Hardcore—proof that loud music doesn’t need electricity. A raucous live experience, the Brigade defies categorization, appealing equally to punks and farmers, old and young.
What Cheer? Brigade has played with Blondie, Dan Deacon, Man Man, Japanther, Dengue Fever, Okkervil River, Lightning Bolt, Ninjasonik, Mika Miko, Wolf Parade, Matt and Kim, Slavic Soul Party, Javelin, Sage Francis, and Chain and the Gang. They have appeared at Lollapalooza, Sziget (Hungary), and Guca (Serbia), offering mobile, intense moments of outdoor revelry. (http://www.whatcheerbrigade.com/)
Nathaniel Rappole’s solo project Gull is best described as a drum; a living, breathing, squawking drum that cries out assorted music of creatures past and delivers it from a single unique perspective; a communal music broadcast of blood and bile left as an offering on the altar of sound.
Gull has been active for more than a decade and has recorded a 7", 2 EP's and 2 full length albums and has spent the better part of the past 5 years touring vigorously ~ playing venues, on the streets and in the wilds of North and Central America, Kenya and Europe.
Gull has toured in support of White Rabbits, Tres Mts and RNDM and has shared the bar arena with the likes of Silver Apples, Girl Talk, Deerhoof, Adrian Belew, Panda Bear and Melt Banana. (http://www.gullface.com/)

All The Saints Theater Company (RVA)
All The Saints Theater Company creates stories and events that take up a LOT OF SPACE. Their hand crafted plays, street parades and spaghetti dinners challenge, subvert and resist the ever encroaching influences of large corporations who's powers attempt to homogenize, nationalize and globalize our individual bodies, lives and local culture.
They build stuff out of trash to reflect the love, honesty and cruelty in humanity. They celebrate the streets, noise, and spontaneous puppetry. (https://goo.gl/6aXy1p)
ANIMAL is a creative collective. They are DJs, musicians, artists, and everything in between. Together they produce queer-friendly events throughout Richmond, VA by assembling eclectic (often eccentric) collaborators.
