Belle Isle Craft Spirits is kidnapping Richmond citizen Thomas “T” Leggett. You might know T from his pouring fame behind the bar at The Roosevelt in Church Hill. They aren’t taking him very far though - only a hundred miles up the interstate for the 2014 Chefs for Equality event in Washington, DC, on September 23rd. The event is an evening dedicated to equality and in support of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. For a single night, dozens of the best chefs and mixologists from VA, DC, and MD descend upon the Ritz-Carlton and craft one hell of a gastronomical experience.
What makes it an even bigger deal for us here is that DC has specifically recognized Virginia’s support of equality and chosen this year’s theme to be “Virginia Real”, in honor of the fact that marriage equality is now within grasp in our awesome state after a VA district judge ruled the same-sex marriage ban to be unconstitutional.
This year, RVA will be making an impression with a craft cocktail called Black Moon Punch, featuring Belle Isle Premium Moonshine, and served by local barman Thomas “T” Leggett. If you can’t get yourself to DC for the event, make sure to check out T’s Black Moon Punch recipe here.
